Meet Your Therapist

Welcome to Therapy Cocoon LLC—a safe, nurturing space where transformation begins. I’m Anuja Khadka, and I’m honored you’re here. I created this practice to be a soft landing for adults carrying the weight of anxiety, childhood wounds, generational and developmental trauma—those invisible burdens that shape how we show up in the world, in relationships, and with ourselves

My Approach: Gentle, Deep, and Compassionate

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, my work is centered on inner child healing and parts work. I have experience of over 6 years working in the mental health profession which included providing therapy. I believe that many of our current struggles—anxiety, chronic self-doubt, people-pleasing, fear of authority, emotional disconnection—are rooted in unresolved childhood wounds or early attachment disruptions. Whether you experienced overt trauma or subtle emotional neglect, those early imprints matter. They live in the body, in your nervous system, and in the parts of you that still long to be seen, heard, and nurtured.

In our work together, we’ll gently explore:

  • Your inner child and unmet emotional needs
  • Attachment patterns that still influence your adult relationships
  • Somatic experiences—how your body holds your stories and emotions
  • The grief and loss of a childhood you may not have had
  • Tools for emotional regulation, reparenting, and self-compassion
  • How to build a deeper, more loving connection with all the parts of you

Healing isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about understanding your survival patterns, making sense of your story, and slowly, gently offering your inner child the safety, love, and guidance they never received.

A Bit About Me – The Human Behind the Therapist

Beyond the therapy room, I’m also a mother. Motherhood has deepened my understanding of emotional cycles and generational patterns in profound ways. I work with many mothers who begin to notice that their emotional triggers are rooted in their own unmet childhood needs. Together, we explore these patterns and begin the reparenting process—so you can show up for yourself and your children in more intentional and connected ways.

I’m a proud immigrant and South Asian woman, born and raised in Nepal. My identity is deeply woven into the work I do. Growing up, I faced discrimination because of my darker brown skin—a reality that many children of color face, often within their own communities. These early experiences of rejection and shame left a lasting impact on my self-esteem, created anxiety, and shaped how I saw myself in the world.

As I traveled and engaged with different cultures, I began to realize that beauty and worth are perceived differently across places. Where I once felt “less than,” I was later embraced and celebrated. That shift helped me reclaim a sense of identity and beauty that had been denied to me in childhood.

These lived experiences are why I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals —particularly minority community- BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and immigrant clients—who carry the invisible wounds of childhood discrimination. When a child is shamed for their skin tone, body, or identity, it can lead to deep-seated feelings of unworthiness, people-pleasing, anxiety, and self-doubt that follow them into adulthood—showing up in their relationships, career, and how they see themselves.

These patterns can become even more overwhelming when transitioning to life in a new country. The pressure to adapt, fit in, and succeed while carrying unhealed wounds can lead to heightened anxiety, fear of judgment, and a deep sense of isolation. I help clients make sense of this inner experience, reconnect with their authentic selves, and begin the healing journey through inner child work, cultural exploration, and self-compassion.

You are not too sensitive. You are not too broken. You are carrying pain that was never yours to begin with—and you deserve to heal.

Therapy Cocoon: Why the Name?

A cocoon is where transformation begins. It’s where something soft and vulnerable gets to rest, reflect, and reshape before emerging renewed. That’s what this space is for—you’re not alone in your healing. I’ll walk alongside you as you learn to hold your inner child with care, break generational patterns, and grow into the self you’re becoming.
